sorry about being stupid and all that but...

What's to stop a vanload of evil thieves coming into the place and nicking a couple of computers in the early hours of the morning?

Is there any security there, cos I would have thought there's quite a big risk. If there's no supervision, how do we know our computers won't get nicked?

Oh, and just supposing, I have got a piece of software on my machine that isn't completely bought and licenced, does this mean I'd have to take it off? ;-)

P.S. You realise of course that I haven't and I'm just asking for the benefit of others...

NO-ONE gets into the venue who is not either on the guest list, on the paid participant list, or is a registered "spectator" of a paid participant (form going up for that shortly). There will be someone on the door 24-hours a day and there is only one way in (other than the fire exits of course).

However, as many people have said, most people are up until the early hours in the morning, and you tend to notice people walking off with PCs when it's not time to go yet. Also, the main entrance is right between the two bars, so they'll be right in a crossfire if they try to nick anything :-).

As for *gasp* pirated software, if you want to take that risk it's up to you m8. We're not there to do FACT's job for them... we're just providing the network. Can you really see us going through 300 hard drives checking for warez? It's going to be busy enough seeing everyone's sorted :-).

Hope that answers you questions m8.

Heh - now that would be funny (in a perverse kinda way) if FAST raided the event.

Also the site is near an army base and I for one will be patrolling around until the early hours of the morning in a Wargasm style tank.

So have no fear (unless I've had a few light ales).

Hehe, nice one Gadget http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

Back to security though. AS well as having only one entrance there will also be 250+ people looking out for each other.

At the last LAN there was a lot of worry about security but it all turned out to be quite unfounded, mainly cos everyone was watching each other's back. Except Sujoy and Co. cos they never moved from their PC's anyway, not even for a **** http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif

Plus that most people I have met who play Quake aren't all small, geeky and wearing glasses, some, like Shlank are the size of a ****ing barn and are therefore security in itself http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif

TBH I can safely vouch for the security provided by ourselves, last time there was no problem. I do woner about the quake 2 kiddies running over, grabbing my tower shouing "MINE GIMME!" and then binning it for not being deep blue and not bein able to run quake 2 at 4096x1600 or sth :P Also if you would like a place to secure your alcohol in any way shape or form find S7 and we will all keep it out of harms way. Oh on a serious note if I see anyone trying to thieve any kit then I'll chase after the git and prolly beat them a fair bit - in fact i feel that snipers rules of the last time worked well "if i see the **** I'll run them over then reverse over them then hang them from the nearby motorway bridge so tons of lorries can bash them on their way past" http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif nice one stu

With a name like mine I guess I have to keep an eye out.

I think that any suspects should have the living s.hit kicked out of them, then asked politely to not do it. That should sort it.

/me has visions of a RoadRunner-esque anvil suspended immediately above Proms PC, just ready for when Abards tries to hinch it.

Of course, Prom being the thick cun.ter that he is, he forgets that the anvil will also hit his own PC, rendering him in tears for the rest of the weekend.
