View Full Version : Electricity and Phonelines
Okay - both might be stupid questions - but...
1) How many power points do we each get??? Or do we all need to bring along our 4 ways???
2) Is there going to be any support for modems for once all the other 299 people have gone to bed and to email friends who were stupid enough not to go???
Cheers m'dears

Everyone needs to bring their own 4-ways, although we'll be providing the first link in the chain for many of the points. There will be no more than 8 pcs running of each power socket, and we'll probably be running an extra couple of ring mains round the hall.
There won't be any support for modems m8, but Uprising is looking into installing 2 ISDN lines.
I dunno whether this is true, but is it a fact that a PC uses about as much electricity as a couple of light bulbs?
If so, screw the lighting, lets play in the dark with 10 extra computers! http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
Let's be careful that we don't turn the PC's on all at once hey (otherwise BANG!).
An average PC uses between 400-500 W. Some use more, especially if there's a large monitor running off it's own power supply. Others use less (about 300W) when then the monitor runs off the computer's PSU. Divide those figures by 240 to get the ampage.

Velvet mate, I can honestly say that not at any point in the entire LAN will everyone be asleep. I for one am going to try and beat the previous record of 30 mins sleep over the entire weekend http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif. If your a real man just bring a big feck off pillow and slam it up against your tower if you feel the need to sleep - of course this time it'll be even busier and there'll be even more peeps ready to play at 4 - 8 in the mornin. Oh and this time can we lessen u on the massive amounts of FFA as it'd be much nicer to have tons of tourney's - mind you it was because we were all amazed with lpb skillz http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/biggrin.gif

Yeah - less FFA, more teamies and tournies!
