The last LAN's I went to required registering, but didn't mind about whether you paid at the door or beforehand. As long as you were registered, you got in. I say this because some people may get fussy about sending stuff via snail-mail, or may not have time or whatever. The point is, why not let us pay on the door?
I prefer to do that actually... :/

because this way they can re-allocate if you can't get in because one section is full http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

what they might do is if they ain't got your dosh a week after registering, they email you to ask why and give you 2 days to reply http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

The answer is simple; pay up front = commitment to come.

Our experience with LAN parties has shown that quite a few who book places don't turn up on the day. We therefore need to ensure that no-one who wants to come can't because a prospective place was tied up by some git who forgot to cancel. Don't forget if you don't pay for this event within 7 days of registering you lose your reservation.

There is also the fact that no pay-on-entry means no large sum of cash to temp a potential robber (who would then first be chewed to pieces by the Military Police Dogs and then shot by the Armed military police as the doggies like don't like their food 'to go'.)

I see your point!

Would be interesting to see a potential robber get mauled to bits in the middle of a Quake match though - I doubt any of us would notice! http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

The other point is security, as after you have paid you are sent a ticket which is required for you to step foot inside the venue.
