whats better
the advanced fighter or the HVy intecepter?

methinks the Hvy intercepter.

but when commanding on apollo last night I had two abusive players, demanding me to drop almost complete Hvy intercepter upgrades (inc accel, damag, pw range etc etc)
and start fighter upgrades when money was extremely tight.

they were prats too, kept critising my commanding skills and tactics, even though we won.
being backseat pussies when they got told they can command they refused.

anyway, in your opinion whats better Adv fig or Hvy ints?

Depends heavily on your playing style and tactics.

Personally I prefer the advanced scout. But that's simply because that's the role that I fly, I'm not a dogfighter, never have been, I take the scout out and find what needs to be found and leave the dogfighting to the aces. Nothing quite like taking a scout intot he enemy home and just sitting there undetected up on the z-axis and reporting the enemy movements :)

But in the figs vs ints... I always prefer figs, probably the best all-purpose craft in the game and if I have to fly a dogfighter then I'd rather have a fig.

I like the Hvys but then i havn't had much experiance in the figs. I also like doing the scout runs.

However the nice thing about Ints is that lurvly side thrusting motion. I'm not completly sure on the gun mount options on the crafts yet.

If the bad guys are throwing devs at you then I'm never happier than when I'm camping an aleph with my disruptors and galvonic blaster in an advanced fig...

I just have a prob with some of the peeps you find in teh commanders role, that is the ones who kick & ban you just for stopping your donations for a payday to get enough to buy the bomber your side needs to take out that enemy outpost that just sprang up. Mumble swear <insert cursing here, probably about americans>.

Has to be the fighter I'm afraid. Just because of it's multi-role capabilities.

Plus, you show me an interceptor away from home and I'll show you a lifepod.

And yes, there are some really crap commanders out there.

if your using an int vs a fighter, all you do is strafe in the interceptor using the booster, easy kill.

Ive noticed some players doing it vs cap ships too, straffing with the booster while hammering away.

not as good as galvonics I know.

Id also prefere to be escorted in a bomber by an int than a fig.

If I was in a bomber I'd rather have a devastator escorting me.....

But in a straight fight an int will beat a fig, but for all round ability you can't beat the fig...

My point exactly. Most people who use the interceptor a lot use that tactic, it makes them incredibly predictable and easy to take out.

How many pilots do you see who play in 2D, the same old moves and breaks repeated time and time again, not to mention the fact that they use ammunition like it's going out of fashion.

Once you're used to the ships and weapons you know when somebody is going to switch weapons because they're running on empty, and thats when you go in for the kill. If you're in a fighter against and interceptor you do everything in your power to annoy him, it's suprising how many people tend to "give up" after a few seconds of wasted ammo, then all you have to do is get behind him and give him a butt full of laser. I've had players run from me when you employ this tactic, thats when you strike.

Then theres the woefully underused stealth, but thats another story...

ive never had a problem with figs before, even from the good clanned people, I usually take out 2-3 figs before I feel the need to go for a top up.

Im starting to think they are all pants.
All you gotta do is Hop into a Rixan fighter, chews up interceptors and advanced figs alike, thank god it has no missiles.

I got up to 48 bonus with a basic one vs hvy ints and adv figs, as in no upgrades, they are rather good.

nah, i'm afraid that'll like it and hafta pay the subscription. Since i'm not about to start doing that, its better off that i don't look. I didn't even use my free month subs when i bought the game.

neither suit me very well :)
i like fighters better cos i like my shields when im dogfighting, but i like the incredible hull strength of the interceptor

NOTHING compares to my stealth though

those miners probes and scouts dont know what hit em, and dont get caught very often either :)
