LO,
Ive just stuck a R2 copy of Matrix in a Grundid DVD player and it dont work!!
I went down the local Vid Shop and they said theres known problems with playback on Samsungs and Prolines and a few others....
So if any1 get a DVD player for Xmas and sticks the Matrix in and it doesnt play or it skips or Neo runs Really fast then check the list at www.pcfriendly.com/en/support/title/matrix/consumer_eur.htm#sony# (http://www.pcfriendly.com/en/support/title/matrix/consumer_eur.htm#sony#)
So should i just return the 170 quid Grundog and buy a £370 Sony to match the Wega Telly :)
So i was wondering if any1 could shed light on this i.e.
Which Models suffer
Can u stop it
Will future DVD's be the same?
and should i just go back out and buy a Sony :)
Cheers

That sux, i feel for the peeps who shelled out on a DVD player only to find that it wont play some of the movies. I heard about this yesterday when i was renting another DVD, the guy at the counter said "oh, is that the matrix?" "no" "good, cos weve had problems with some of those" "oh?" "yeah on some of them theres nothing on it" "really? bummer, good job i bought a good one on monday :) "
No Probs with my computer one.
Drive cost me 150 odd quid and I don't need a TV liscence (yet..) cheaper than the TV systems 'cause I would need to buy a TV, liscence, Player an DVD's, and maybe still have problems!
Good player for under £400..
Toshiba SD2109, bout £300 pre modded.
Excellent player for the money, and ive had no probs with ne discs R1 & R2, inc the problem discs.
:)

I have the same Problem, ive a Proline DVD player, i bought the Matrix and it didnt work, ok woolworths sent back all the copies of the matrix.
So that means its the disc right? hmm
I went to Our Price, and they said take your DVD player back to the Dealer for an upgrade.
So what do i do ?
My other 9 titles work:
Blade
Dawn of the Dead
From Dusk till Dawn
Interview with a Vampire
Godzilla
The Waterboy
Rush Hour
The Faculty
I still know what you did last summer
Ok so, has anyone found Hellraiser: Bloodlines on DVD 2 ??
Cyas
pioneer 6x ide dvd rom, realmagic decoder...
imaging squirting on an svhs tv (the pics fine) and the sound going from the decoder to a yamaha dolby digi/dts job (300 quid one).
sound drop out city. really annoying. We were thinking it was only happening at loud times but,er, it happened in quiet points too. thinking about it, the last half of the movie was full of it.
Shame, as it messed with an excellent film. Lypsinc probs too, and pressing the pause-then-unpause thing didn't help.

Bummer
I have a pasonic dvd 150 player which has been fine with 20+ dvd's. At the moment it's in the shop been loocked at beacuse two of my dvd' which are Ronin an Das Boat have pixilation, frezzing frames and Jumping chapters.
Turns out that quite a few titles have problems and it can be blamed on the manufacturing process.
Why is it when you buy these things no one ever mentions problems with dvd discs.
Matrix is a well known shagged DVD any DVD player not upto full spec will have problems with this disk and several others doing the rounds.
Anybody had the Paragon upgrade from linkonline at Peterborough ? my Samsung is going there on Tuesday just hoping it wont shag it up!!
i'm so unimpressed when lipsync probs starts to ebb into the movie. the moment someone releases a player that doesn't messup on any movie released in the last 6 months prior to its the player coming out, i'll get one. untilll then, guess i'll just keep saving.

I have an import Pioneer Dv606D one of my mates has a UK Pioneer Dv717 and another has a Dv515 ( which is uk version of mine without built in Dolby Decoder and a DTS out ) ..... mine cost just over $600 my mate 717 was about £500 when he bought it, i have no idea what the 515 was but I would guess about 300-400 , I have another friend with a Grundig ( god it makes my cringe just type the name ) and he has had no end of problems. Matrix wont work properly, the directors thingy on ghostbusters wont work properly, the picture is no where near as good as most other players I have seen and the build quality and looks are crap .... the moral ? ... you get what you pay for ... you want a cheap option for home cinema ? ... then accept that for what it is. You want real home cinema, buy a decent player, amp and speaker setup to go along with your Wega-Wide...
