Hi all
I've looked at gameplay for dvd films but compared to high street prices they are not cheap.
An example is Matrix which I bought for £17.99 from Tesco's which happens to be the exact same price Gameplay offers.
I thought the idea of buying online was to save money - could be wrong though.
We aim to offer not only better prices but a better service than the high street. I'll pass your comments on...
Matrix was 15.99 in the Maidstone Blockbusters...for the dvd. not bad at all.

Thats a good price m8 fully undercutting Gameplay by £2.00.
online shopping is supposed to be cheaper than high street. Online shops and mailorder don't incur the same cost as high street retailers, supposidly passing on the savings to customers, somehow it's not working with Gameplay.

It seems to me that Gameplay challenge high street shops in terms of DVD and not other online stores.
People were talking about The Matrix. You can get it for 13.99 from encoredirect.co.uk
You can also get you Dreamcast games from simplygames.co.uk for 29.99 but I rather pay a couple of extra quid and get them from here cos you might have to wait a week for you DC games from them.
Saying that it did take Gameplay a week and 2 phone calls to get me Soul Calibur grrrr.
But they did do me next day delivery for free so bless their little cotton socks!
Also if you want to cheapest DVD's then get them from the States at reel.com. I got Austin Powers 2 for 9 quid excluding delivery.

Doh I found Matrix for sale in Woolworths for £11.99 try and beat that price.

No m8 it's priced right it's featured in the dvd section. I suppose some daft tart could have wrongly put 11.99 stickers on 30 dvd sleeves.

Regardless of the price, my point it that Gamplay should be cheaper for dvd films that high street store. I've still not had an official reply from gamaplay about it.

The cost of games is all to do with buying in bulk. The more you buy in usually the cheaper you get it, and the less you can charge fot it-I don't know what bulk of DVD's we buy in or at what cost and will find out, but it may be related to bulk buying. Saying that I personally unpacked and counted about 600 copies of the Matrix in the gameplay warehouse last week!

Yes Gameplay DVD prices are BAD, tesco and asda have better prices and they are the most expensive online dealer, all the Internet sites I use, play247, UK DVD Shop, Encore, DVD World have much better prices, on average £4.00 cheaper, come on gameplay sort this out.
Matrix £11.99 at woolies? - York branch are charging £15.99, but buy 1 - get 1 half price!

I'm with Mr P and the others on this. Why pay more money for the privilege of getting Gameplay to send you the DVD when you can buy it cheaper at Blockbusters of all places. The DVD market isn't like the video market. If Granny wants to buy a present for the grandson she isn't going to "surf" on down to the Gameplay site and pay £17.99. The people that go to Gameplay see £17.99, think F%&$ that and then head off to Play247 or DVDworld where they're not going to get ripped off. Granny, meanwhile heads off to Woolworths where she can happily be ripped off to her hearts content. The thing is even Woolworths don't charge £17.99, so sort it out or don't bother selling DVD's.
