View Full Version : Region 1 on Widescreen TVs
I'm wondering if Region 1 DVDs can be played on an NTSC compatible Widescreen TV in the 16:9 ratio. In the specifications for such televisions the ratio 3.58/4.43 for NTSC is often quoted. Does this only refer to NTSC videos?
Region 1 dvd's can be played just fine, Looking at the dozen or so I have :)
I thought that NTSC3.58 stood for "pure" ntsc, which means that you can control the hue of the picture.
ntsc 4.43 is ntsc that's been encoded into pal. this gives a uniformaly pants picture, from my experience. ntsc3.58 has much better colour, if that can be said about ntsc.
thats what i thought it was, anyway.
