region locking

I have heard that if you play dvd's from different regions on your machine it will eventually lock on one region.
I have a creative dxr3 drive on my pc and wondered if anyone can tell me if this is true to my machine?

Ive had a creative dxr3 for about 3-4 months 2 of which have been unlocked. It doesn't do anything permanent to your card.

This is the site to visit to crack region settings...dunno bout the locking to 1 region thing..If it locks to R1 I'd be a happy man m8 cos R2 stuff is total pants and R1 is the only way to go.
