American DVD disc prices!

are DVD's cheaper in the states as my sister is givin' me a small fortune (70 quid) for me christmas but she wants to get me somethin' from the states..
I was thinkin' films!!!

are they cheaper?


I'm gettin' a panasonic SR8583 and can choose what region I wanna watch, so that's not a prob!

I don't know about in US shops but via the internet they are, often by a large amount. When the region 1 Matrix first came out, you could buy it in some places for around £9. Another example, we paid £10 for The Mummy and it was delivered in only 3 days, from Los Angeles! Try looking here http://www.dvdexpress.com for an idea.

yep. just watch out for Customs and Excuse charging 22.5% or something vat+import duty.

If you've had your stuff sent by DHL, then they charge you an admin fee for taking care of the C&E charges for you. Its about 10 quid that lasttime i had stuff from www.kencranes.com (http://www.kencranes.com)

Yeah I just tok delivery of 12 films for 277 dollars including packing and postage at the rate of 1.65 dollars per pound then proceeded to get robbed another 41.37 from the Customs & Excise.

also part of that was 10 quid for UPS handling /admin fee.

I buy loads of DVD's from the states and I have never been charge Duty or VAT.

What you need to do is keep your order below £18.00 ($28.00), anything below this will not incur charges.

You can get great prices on the net and with sites like Amazon or Reel you can pick up $10.00 of coupons which moor than covers the shipping.

thats about £ 16 and £ 20, got dvds slightly cheaper then that, but not much..... the only advantage for me is , that i get the movies much ealier over in the states. dis advantage is , they usually come only in english and spanish......german&french.....
.. but c'est la vie....
