Is your problem with all dvds or just odd ones. I've got Pulp Fiction and Scream that will only play in letterbox, all my others will go full screen.
STRANGE!

I got Matrix and it plays ok full screen!
May be if you try reinstaling your dvd player software or check ati site for any updates. My Matrix has it's own player on disc have you tried that one?

I am gathering by what everyone is saying here is that they have modifying software to change the picture from widescreen to 4:3...why?? The whole idea of watching movies at home is to see it how the director, or more to the point, YOU saw the film in the cinema. 90% of all dvd software is widescreen and cannot (or should not) be altered, some discs i.e. Lock Stock and 2 smoking barrels come with both 4:3 one side and 1.85:1 w/screen ratio on the other side. I can understand from some peoples point that if you have a small tv or monitor then yes stretch piccy to fit, but if you're watching on a 29" or above why??
Just a general observation gents! :)
