i've seen plenty of cheap dvd sites, but not one of them is in the uk, and most a them are in the states, so i was wondering how ya would go about buyin' em..

would like they just take the dollar equivelant of pounds outta your account?

cos some good dvd's for about $14 that's about 9 quid

and are there any established rules, cos i heard ya can't buy more than 18 quid or dollars worth of anythin' in one go or ya get a tax, this true?

You pay by credit card and the credit card company converts to £. The disc prices are cheap but don't forget P an P. It generally works out to $6 per order and then another $2 per disc, ie 1 disc=$8, 2 discs=$10.
However if your order comes to more than £18 you run the risk of paying duty, although I've not paid any yet. The £18 refers to the value of the disc, not including P&P. One way to get around the £18 limit is to have your order sent in seperate packs. Order 2 discs, but make sure one isn't released yet. The company sends the one they have in stock and then the pre ordered one as soon as its released. Both packages say less than £18 and you don't pay import duty. It only costs you $10 P&P. Bargain!
The other thing to look out for are "coupons". These are a collection of numbers or letters that give you a discount, often of $10. You type the coupon code into the order form at the right point and you get a discount! You find these coupons at various places on the net, http://www.users.globalnet.co.uk/~rcolby/bargains.htm is a starting point. Not all the coupons work, but some do. WWW.dvdexpress.com (http://WWW.dvdexpress.com) are good. Delivery generally takes about 4-5 days by airmail and they're cheap too.

Have you tried http://www.play247.com
They are based in the UK and have region 1 films very quick after release. They are quite cheap as well. I ordered Saving Private Ryan from amazon and got caught by customs. I vowed - never again. That's when I discovered play247.

Yes me too, I lost a film from the states by the customs, safest way is to use a brit site like www.dc-dvd.co.uk (http://www.dc-dvd.co.uk) wait a day or two after usa release date and get a guaranteed delivery!

amazon.com are brilliant for US dvds, they're well cheap and it works out cheaper if you buy more. I've never paid tax on any i've got and neither have any of my friends (who have ordered loads).

they're good for CD's too, everything generally comes in about 7 days.
