Does anybody know any reason why there is no planned release for Phanton Menace on DVD. Also does anybody know if there are any plans to bring out the trilogy on DVD.
the set is coming out in about 2004 or something ridiculous like that. but it's probably going to be well worth it. i think its when they make the other two prequels, then they'll release the whole bundle.
although by then dvd will probably be obsolete and the uk version will probably still only feature scene access and interactive menus.

I read at one site that its not coming out because George Lucas wants the DVD to be the best it can, but because hes currently working on Episode 2 and then 3, he has no time to do it. Why he just can't get someone else to do it is a right pain in the arse!, as I can't wait 4-5 years.

No DVD until after all three films in the current trilogy are completed is exactly what he said on the Big Breakfast last August...
I have tried hard to think of any sane reason why this should be the case. Very hard. I have failed. I have come out of this process feeling nothing but extreme annoyance.

Think VHS, then think VHS Special Edition, then think DVD, then think DVD Directors cut, then think DVD Directors cut (Special Edition Jar Jar must die), then think billions of $. Then give your brain a rest 'cos it'll probably hurt by then, but G. Lucas doesn't care 'cos he'll be even richer! Or I being too cynical?
