I've got a the previous Encore version - and yes it is good ... but I also have a stand alone player, and that's better, both are region hacked.

DVD movies are best watched on a nice big wide screen television, preferably with Dolby 5.1. This is fine if you keep your PC next to your TV, but not so good if you have to lug your PC and monitor (unless you have a TV out card), to your living room and connect it up.

You can get a stand alone player for £180 quid (look up the Wharfedale in Tescos – easily region hackable using the remote control).

Depends on whether you just want to watch DVD movies … there’s little software on DVD atm, and prices of DVD-ROM will come down as CD-ROM, so I’d forget the drive (for now) and get the player.
