I have decided to buy a Warfedale, I was wondering if I can hook my four point surround speakers from creative labs to it, to get affordable surround sound. Also is there anything elsa I should take into account when buying the DVD player.

soz to say this masanevre m8,,but as far as im aware the wharfdale player does not support 6 channel outputs ,,and as far as your 4 point speakers go,that would be the only way to get surround from this dvd player,,,
if you should get a few quid behind you tho,,i can recommend the sherwood ac3/dts amp that richer sounds sell for just over 200 quid,,,
soz i couldnt give u better news ,,but u should still go for the wharfdale,
The Wharfedale DVD-750 has at the back digital outputs via optical or RCA socket and two pairs of RCA sockets for left/right audio (that's how my audio gets in to my Dolby Surround Sony Widescreen - and that works just fine).
I'm not particularly familiar with the inputs on the creative labs amps, but if decodes surround info you should be okay. A dedicated digital amp with decent speakers will sound much better though. I'll be buying one at some point.
I've had no problems with the player (plus it's region hackable on the remote), but the player does not support DTS however. Although it was rumoured on www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/ (http://www.dvd.reviewer.co.uk/) that this is not the case.
Quote: "Now DVD Times has obtained reliable reports that the Wharfedale DVD-750 is also DTS compatible, this time straight out of the box. All you need to indulge in this higher quality format is a DTS capable amplifier and your away"
