Good to see the great game continues to have a presence, nice work Xingthing.

I have a hankering to come back and have a few games with you all, but unfortunately the game is unplayable on WP now for me. I wish I knew why this was, no-one seems to be able to explain it. It's just lagoramic jekovision :(

If anyone knows how and why I have these problems, tell me, I'l fiz 'em and I'll cya next sunday. If not, good luck for the future, I'll stick to AA! ;)

Best wishes

Hi Rocky, cheers for the vocal support.

As2 is on a 'rocky' path (this humor hurts me) at the moment but Wireplay wish and will it to continue.

Lag: well well.

Its a toughie. Ive thought about this problem long and hard and still not come up with a valid solution. There a key steps to help prevent lag though.

1) Never every use BT Internet/Free. It is bad. The best option is Wireplay Direct but even this has been reported to have serious pings. So you may wish to use another server with fast connection (easier said than done)

2) Dont go into Powerplay use Openplay. Firstly the front end stuff eg Noticeboard is much quicker to load due to the lack of peeps. Secondly, Zuckuss and myself, played on Powerplay and then on Openplay and the game was much slicker on Openplay. Having said this I tried to play Docboy once on both channels but they both were very poor.

3) Buy a better modem (Im not sure this works)

4) Update your modem drivers. There is a wireplay forum on modems and a website.

Forum: http://forums.gameplay.com/cgi-bin/ubb/forumdisplay.cgi?action=topics&forum=Modems&number=31&DaysPrune=5&LastLogin=

Website: http://www.lagless.com/

SLIME is the moderator of the modem board. If you post he will try to solve the problem.

Cheers

Thanks for the help Xing. I have a 3-Com USR 56k modem and it works fine for all other WP compatible games - just *not* AS2. I also have the latest drivers. :(

I will try Openplay though, perhaps for next sundays tourney if I get back from France in time. Might be a good idea to have a test match with someone before hand, so if you or anyone can spare the time, let me know.

You say AS2 is going through a decline. Out of interest, why do you think this is? Is it because of the technical problems (I can't be the only one surely?), or is just that it's quite long in the tooth now and people are trying other things?

I know AS2 has it's flaws, particularly the infamous "bendy" shots (that I grew to loathe so much) that, by waggling the joystick you ensure a goal, but it's still an addictive game and there must be hundreds of footy fans out there that would love to try it. Isn't the game only a tenner to buy now?

Good luck with it though, your hard work deserves a better response. And anyway, if Zuckuss is still winning everything, the quicker new players sign up the better! ;)
