Hi guys, having a small problem.
Having a 5 player lan and we're trying to play BG, but the ****er won't work. We've tried to play with the out of the box version, the US patch and the 14 Meg international patch and each time we play ppl get kicked out within a couple of mins.
We're using ipx protocol, but have tried tcp and the same thing happens. We've just bought a new hub but this doesn't seem to be the problem as qw works fine and network neighbourhood is working.
We've got P166mmx with 32Megs Ram, a Celeron 333 with with 64 Megs, a PII 350 with 64 Megs, a PII 400 with 128 Megs and a PII 400 with 128 Megs (again). We've tried playing without the P166 but that doesn't help.
We've installed the 14 Meg patch over the US one. Anyone got any ideas why this is going tits up?
Any advice greatfully received (tonite would be REALLY good)

cheers
Trio

Sorry - experience of the Labs is that the game can't reliably handle more than 4 people - even over a lan.

Indeed I have had trouble getting more than three people playing.

I'd be interested to see if people get a better response from the International Patch rather than the US - we have only tested the US patch.

hmmm, as i said before, i have completed the game with 6 ppl over a lan with no problems at all. I will try and find out if we used any special settings because it seems that i'm the only person to manage this so far http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif.

Arse. Oh well, never mind. Got it working with 2 of us then snuck another in when it wasn't looking http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

Anyone else keep running out of slots to store stuff? During a long play in the wilderness I always end up leaving useful things begind as I can't carry them. Strength is not a problem as I've 2 meatheads acting as pack animals. Is there a bag of holding or something similar?

Dan, u going to wp lan? If so I'd love to play a 6 player game successfully http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

no there no bag of holding or anything http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif.

If you just go to the nearest town after every area you can sell your stuff there. Although it may take or day or so to get there and back it doesnt matter because there are no time based quests in this game.

im not going to the lan, but i have a feeling that our BG works because of the network, rather than some magical power i have http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

If you have lots of cool stuff that you think might come in handy but you don't want to sell it, why don't you store it in a barrle or a chest. I leave my gear in a box near the thieves guild. Lost it though took me 30 mins to find it again http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

Thats a really cool idea - why didn't I think of that.

I managed to complete the Theives guild job without losing any REp - so I am a happy bunny http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif
