Is it just me or is it waaay to easy to get money in this game? Specially with a half decent thief.
I was over the moon when I finally reached Baldurs gate as it meant that I actually had somewhere to spend my 50000 gp.
Does anybody else think this unbalances the game a bit?
(Mind you, at least it's better than Ultima where you have to try and fit a thousand and one coins into a rucksack http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif)

You have a point - but there is only so much useful stuff to buy - so money becomes a bit irrelevant later on.
I never used to get to keep much money because I kept doing Raise Dead rather than a re-load - that can get costly.
Like any game if you play to the max - you can become a powergamer (Which can be fun)- but if you keep to the context of the game (i.e. let yourself be caught without re-loading)then you get more realism - Its a balance and up to you.

I found the easiest way to sort out this problem was to give it away... Donating lots to temples seems silly at the start as you only have enough to buy a half-decent sword... By the time you reach Baldur's Gate you have loads of cash (especially if like me you check every barrel and gibberling and collect anything shiny to sell at a later date http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif)... Anyway - donating loads to temples is obviously beneficial to your party's reputation and this means you can afford to kill a few commoners without it affecting your ability to buy stuff...

I'm not sure about donating, in my experience the parties reputation usually gets to 19 or 20 pretty quick anyway (assuming you dont go round killing everyone). If you do all the "find my dog" and "find my cat" missions, donating is not too important. Besides, if you have a high reputation your party has to all be good, which is a problem if you find a cool evil character you want to join. I tried to keep my reputation at neutral so you have as many options as possible.
A good way to spend money is to buy loads of nice arrows for your archers, like arrows of dispelling, which cost loads.
I did like athanateus did, kept going to temples to raise dead rather than reloading. i think it makes the game more realistic and it flows better rather than the stop and start of reloading.

Well I've just managed to spend about 30,000 on kitting myself up for the final battle... I've got the biggest array of wands, arrows and weapons I've ever seen...
That colourful wizard shop just inside Baldur's Gate is amazing - spent hours in there... Lucky I hadn't found it earlier else I would have used up all I could afford already...
Wish me luck for the grand finale...
