I've done a little bit of searching and have come up with a pretty good xp cap remover...

Before anyone starts this is not useful for cheating but as myself and a couple of others seem to be attempting to complete it with just one char it seems a bit harsh to not be able to progress past level 5 (multi class)...

Anyway, it has an re-cap as well just in case there are any problems with multiplay...

Of course m8 http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif and I'm up to levels 5, 5 and 6 now - only about 1,000 xp away from the cap...

I can't see how you'd complete it with one char any other way - the thief class is essential for the traps and although you might be able to manage without the mage class it does come in very useful on many occasions...

Anyway - let us know how you get on, I've done the Nashkel Mines and the Bandit Camp, just doing my usual wander before I head off to Cloakwood...

Errr, call me daft, but now I have the xcap remover, how do I actually use it?

I pressume it works on existing games, but I don't know how to install it.

Stick it in your Baldur directory, unzip it and double-click...

To add the cap back you need to open up DOS and go to your Baldur directory and run it from there including the suffix /u (I think)... Full details of this are in the readme with it though...

Argh - I'm still at 6,5,6...

Thats my evening taken care of then...

By Helm! Cloakwood here we come...

Tigs - get some potions / scrolls for dispel magic - potions probably better as you can carry more in the same slot... I think you can get them at High Hedge...

I have to say though carrying decent stuff with just one guy becomes nigh on impossible...

Thanks but I realised I had unzipped it to the Black Isle directory, not the Baldurs gate one DOH!

Oh and the readme doesn't explain anything http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif

I am in the cellars beneath Candlekeep at the moment and suffering 'cos there is loads of traps and I don't have a thief. I always knew one would come in handy in the end. Oh well..

BTW what 3 classes are you guys running for your super all singing multiclassed characters. Fighter/thief/?

I don't see the point in a magic user 'cos then you have armour restrictions. Guess that leaves a cleric?

This sounds like fun, think I will give it a go when I finish.

Fighter/Thief/Mage...

There is an excellent Mage robe you can get at High Hedge - costs about 18,000 gold but allows you to do all Thief and Mage stuff plus has some armour value (not sure how much)...

Does this have to be with an all 25's character to make it feasible?

Erm, probably not, but .... be prepared to die a lot. The all 25 stats is just a way of raising the characters survivability. As for the fighter/magic user/thief combo, it really is one of the better ones, especially given the sneak up/fireball scenario for vaping enemy clusters, or sneak up and lightning bolt single enemies.

Although, with the assorted kit you can pick up, you can get a fighter/mage/thief combo down to AC -5 or so http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/smile.gif.

how ????

I'm talking no metal armour here, with metal I've got it down to -9. Guess you've got Drizzt's Defender then http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/frown.gif I ain't gonna kill him, he's too nice.

Um, Full Plate, Ring Of Protection +2, Large Shield +1, Drizzt's Defender +5 (reputation -10 http://www.wireplay.co.uk/ubb/wink.gif)...

But I do normally wear my expensive Mage robe as it allows me full spell casting, thiefly abilities as well as an AC of about -7...
