1/ You can't own property other than items you carry - I believe they've gone for the fact everything you own should be carried on your person.

2/ AC does have guilds established already, and also a fairly complicated system of aliegances and fellowships. Alliegances allow you to choose someone as your patron - they'll help you out with money and kit in return for you earning them experience points. Fellowships are commonly a group of adventurers who will group together for the duration of a quest - all experience points earned for the fellowship are split amongst all party members.

I don't play enough to be a monarch, although there are a couple of guys in our current UK players alliegance system who are getting to that level. If you get the game make sure you give me a shout first and we'll get you involved and get you some nice starting kit.
