Just out of interest how many people do we have reading this forum (and therefore will be playing GP3 come Friday).
Post a message below to say hello?
Hello :)
Cheers
I think we have quite a few lurkers out there at the moment :)
You betcha!
I will be popping along nearly every evening..........
For some info, if you DO NOT have a Pentium III/Athlon then GP3 looks a bit pants! I have tried out the network mode tonite, and was amazed how naff it looks on my other PC! It is a PII 400, Voodoo 2 Sli and 96 meg ram. It defaults to 640x480 and doesn't draw loads of textures like grandstands, grass and bridges! Thank god I don't have to play it like that! So you have just 1 day to go to upgrade :)

I can't wait to get my nose into the GP3 manual! Geoff always makes it a good read.

My copy is on pre-order and my feedback wheel arrived on Monday. :)
f1 racer?
i also dl the beta,i have a measly amd k6-2 500mhz 128mb and 1 v2 - graphics option default to 800x600 full detail with 18fps and im gettin 90% - 120% occupancy
Hmmm, The only way to play GP3 iz with 25.6fps though Target! And are you getting ALL the trackside graphics? Try this one m8, go into graphics options/advanced and turn graphics detail to manual. Turn on all textures and play game. Whats the fps and game like? I have 1024x768, all textures and 25.6fps, it looks tops...........

Thinking about it, I was in network mode, which does slow the game! :)
yeah, im reading most of the stuff, catching up on things that i missed, but i got vouchers from electronics boutique for gp3 :)
yep im gettin all the textures i slid the manual bar to full detail - which i dont think 18fps is that bad for my machine spec,am gettin a v3 nxt week tho maybe will help a bit - i cant go any higher than 800x600 cos of v2 limitations.in benchmarks my system is roughly equiv to a p2 450 maybe slightly better so i dunno why ur missing loads of detail !!
as for the game itself its amazing the way weather changes etc in mid race, can even see puddles forming on the track :)
Seems to wheelspin a lot more than gp2 eva did which is good, actually feels like u have power now .
but i`ll be waiting at local game shops door @9am on the 28th lol - i aint missing out on possible netplay :)

Yep Iam reading it but not sure whether to buy game yet ( Iam not THE biggest fan of driving games but reading this forum to find out if game is any good ).
Dont flame me with how good the game is either please :)
Yep, I'm reading anything I can about GP3 while drooling profusely.
You guys who've played it before - does it look like processor or Graphics card is the main frame rate driver ? Do you reckon my P5-500 + GeForce DDR will be slick or pants ?
Is Wireplay hosting GP3 straight away ? Anyone up for a Sunday morning Hockenheim rehearsal ?
I'm still waiting for Gameplay deliver my Hercules Geforce 2 GTS 64Mb :(
Plays ok on my TNT though, can't wait to be able bang it up a resolution though.

Nah, it's the one that's enndorsed by Ferrari from Guillemot.
See the details on http://www.guillemot.com/northamerica/main/products/ffbwheel/index.shtml
And you can get one for £69.99 from http://www.jungle.com
Incidently, Guillemot's website insists you can buy this from GamePlay, but I couldn't find it anywhere...

Certainly sir, shiney sixpence for you me lad!
Hello
Just got GP3 this morning, first impressions are that it is very tricky, i'm no GP2 veteran. I need a new fix of driving game after getting hooked on TOCA 2, the game which 'forced me' to buy a steering wheel:D
Me thinks it'll be a while before i'm geting good lap times:)
I can't wait, and i just got my new 850 athlon with geforce 2 last week, so i'm very very excited, roll on tomorrow
Yeah yeah I am reading this.
Just played it and it seems just like the 2nd with better graphics.
I have got a problem with my Force Feedback MS Sidewinder Wheel, its always seems to pull left no matter how many times I calibrate it.

Hi Edge, long time no see hehe :)
Yeah its a lot like the 2nd one, not really a bad thing but the improvements are very subtle.
As for the wheel problem, does it only do that in GP3? I mean if you also calibrate it in the windows control panel thingie does it work ok then?
Hi
hmm, aint used this nickname in ages, and i cant register my proper name :(

I guess its got something to do with the proprietry calibration that GP3 has, hmmmm
Did you try setting it up as a joystick as opposed to a wheel, perhaps with Feedback off to at least see if that works?
What i'd try if i was you, instead of selecting wheel, select one of the unused profiles, and select control driven calibration. You are only supposed to select the standard wheel one if u ain't got foot pedals. You need to have the control driven calibration, else you'll oversteer like hell when u going around corners and trying to accelerate out of them.
You still have to calibrate the wheel and pedals afterwards, when control driven calibration is selected, it disables wheel in menu's though, and calibration is slightly different.
My microsfoft FF wheel is also pulling to the left all the time too, and i've tried everything, the game also doesn't like my geforce 2 very much either, and have had a few system crashes, and the bottom half of the screen flickers, and it doesn't do it with any other of my games cause i tried them all this afternoon, and it's not my monitor cos it's a llyama diamondtron 19" and it doesn't flicker on anything else either, no matter what the resolution, i must admit i feel a little dissapointed, oh and it is gp2 with better graphics as well, and the AI isn't as good as has been made out, some cars do really silly things like cause a 3 car pile up after the race has finnished, and if i spin on the racing line they still all cue up behind you, instead of going around, apart from that it's great, but i do feel a little deflated after getting excited all week :(

My meagre celly 433 128Mb RAM and voodoo 3 2000 runs it fine at full detail at 1024x768 so you should be fine.

Yeah I would forget what you know about what you maching runs and doesnt run, but instead remember that Geoff Crammond is a dying bread, he programs the games he makes to use the machine effeciently, perhaps making the thing work twice as well as you thought it would.
Get it Briggers if you havent done so, will run a treat on that machine m8.
