GP3 Probs...Suggestions needed

I plan to buy GP3 tomorrow but i've just been speaking to a mate who has bought it today and is taking it back back tomorrow because:

he has a P3 500, 128 ram and a tnt2 ultra and it detected graphic settings to 1024x768 and he says the pop up is unbearable. i have a p3 500, 128 ram and a voodoo 5 5500, have any of you and in turn will i have the same probs?

He is using sidewinder gamepad and says that only 4 of the buttons sre configurable, is this true?

What he has is saying is definitely putting me off but has anyone had the same probs or able to offer any suggestions?

u play vp2 m8? Sure i recognise the name.

TNT2 have problems with graphics unless u get latest driver from Nvidia site. I have problem with my FF wheel & gp3 atm, only just discovered it today.

It's a very good game m8, we just awaiting a patch to address a few issues

I have a CL TNT2 ultra and no problems at all. I updated the drivers a month or so back so that may be why.

GP3 does state in several places that in needs teh latest drivers to run properly. There are some included on the CD but the websites will have the latest releases. That should sort most issues.

I also have steering problem, micrsoft FF wheel pulling to left anyone? and the four button thing is ****, i know it's the sam as gp2 but you'd think they'd have spotted that most wheels have more than 4 buttons.

I'm having a few probs with my geforce 2 as well, it crashes a lot, and the screen flickers, but it only does it when i'm driving, in spectator mode it doesn't do it, it works fine in software, but i just spent an abscen amount of money on a new pc so i don't have too.

apart from that it's a stunning game, and everyone should own it, but my only gripe is for that a game that has been so long in development is riddled with problems, we want a patch and we want it now

y mate i have probs with my ms ff i have to turn ff off,the prob for me is the processor occupancy goes thru the roof, i know people have had the same problem as you doony, i think there will be a patch soon....

i got arounf the 4 button prob by prongramming keys on my sidewinder pad so i now have pause,replay,cockpit view,tv camera,gears up\down,accel and brake all close to hand on pad,is a pain settin it up but it works a treat:)

as for popup? well my sys is id say considerably worse than a p3 500 im running gp3 on amd k6-2 500 128mb,12mb voodoo 2 in 800x600 detail on full and im gettin 21.3 fps not great i know but its playable enuff for me anyway,so why dont u just drop the res down a notch from 1024.

obviously he aint much of a gp fan if 2 things like popup and button limitations are gonna make him return the game as they are both easily solvable,if u read the readme it states that a athlon or equiv is reccomended for max detail in a high res,so wats he expect tryin 1024 on a 5oomhz?
much as i h8 to admit it a 500mhz based machine aint cutin edge now either drop some detail etc or live with the popup,
any1 tried f1 2000 lately? now thats unplayable on anything but the highest spec.

i'm running on an athlon 850, 128mb ram and geforce 2, and when it doesn't crash and flicker it's pretty awesome, and it never occured to me to programme my buttons with sidewinder, i'll give that a try, and a patch had better come soon, i took the day off to play this!!!!1

The first thing i suggested to him was drop the res but he claimed it hadnt made a difference. Oh well, i'll just make him see green when i'm playing it!

Oh and steve yes, i did play vp2.

Who were u from Vp2 m8, i know i've played u a few times, but u use that name on wireplay props, but no vp2

As posted above, use the profile util that came with the wheel to program the buttons for GP3!

i was on vp2 as tsgray70. and yes, we did play a few times. I even won a couple :)

I'm running a P3 650 / GeForce 1 & had to max all the graphics and res to 1280 to get the processor occupancy over 60%. :D

Still a sh1t game though. :cry:
