Yesterday i started a championship season! The opposing cars were on pro and i turned off all the aids. The qualifing was dry i was aided by hakkinens engine failar to gain pole position!

Any way this was Australia (melbourne) and i wasnt expecting rain. But it rained. And when it does rain it absolultly pisses it down. 100% all across the weather chart and it had all ready been raining so there was a tonne of surface water! Well i got me wets and wents trundling to the track!

The lights were on. 1 2 3 bla bla then they went out and i got a **** start! Never had one b4. Was it coz of the amount or surface water?? I think pole position in melbourn starts u on teh racing line so it couldnt of been dirt or not much grip could it? Wel at the first corner there was a huge scrap for place! Hakkinen knicked infront of me but was so far inside had to brake to hard and dropped. (btw i was ralf shumacher coz i like the jordans) Then i got pushed wide round it and i was fooked for the next sweeping left hander.

From out of no where Fisicella (spelt wrong) came burning it up the inside of me and the outside of hakkinen. The little jabber had knicked first.

When the race had settled down me and Fisicella had broken away a bit. On GP2 i used to have fun by using my *if they r in ur way then ram the ****ers of the road* policey but as i had all aids off i wasnt gonan try that.

On with the race. I was faster than the rest of the field as i always cought fisicella if i dropped back. I was on the long curving straight type thing. The one in between the 2 s bends. The conrner slowly banks left and its surprisingly hard to over power in in MPH coz hes in the middle of the road. But i was inches from he rear end. Last minute i pull out down the inside but coz the conrer is so fast but quite tight he cut right across me an i lost about 2 seconds!

But i cought him up with time but i never got a good exit out of the last corner to get close enuff to him down the back straight and i could never pass him on sharp turns coz i spin off!!

Unfortunatly i use the key board so its hard to judge how hard u steer! Belgarath says that light touches r needed in the rain but i cant really do that with key board and u aither brake erally hard or not at all.

Should i get a wheel? Is it taht much better?

The only way to achieve light touches with the keyboard is to 'tap' the key. Pressing and holding to steer will spin you off, or send you into a long skid when breaking. If you tap the key a few times you get much more control.

A wheel is bound to improve things though (at least it will if they fix the calibration bug on some wheels), so if you have the space for a good wheel and can afford one then you should go buy yourself one :)

You can pick up the MS wheel & pedals (without FF) for about £40. :smurf:

The best one i know is the Logitech Wingman FF - ive got one and it rocks - literally if youve got a wobbly desk like me, or if u dont screw it down properly. :E

The FF is excellent and its very solid - the pedals seem spot on and very responsive.

Available for around £70 - £80

Its the best one u can get i reckon, and its come down in price from £150!!!

Perfect for GP3.
