I've got a p3 500,128 ram, sounblaster live and a voodoo 5 5500 and i am really struggling to get any decent framerates. i can get it to run at 25fps if i change to 640x480, and if it rains that drops below 10fps and is unplayable. ive turned all anti aliasing off and running in 16bit colour. The performance really is bad!
Please help.

Ps, everythings got the latest drivers, direct x 7.0a etc
You have probably already checked this, but have you got the latest drivers for your sound and graphics card?
Scratch that. I found these on some other forums
Go to 3dfx tools, change settings to SINGLE CHIP mode. This will drasticly improve speed by as much as 4 times. Grafix will change as well !
It helped me a lot as it changed processor occupancy from 450% to 110 % with full grafix and and highest res turned on.
Hope this helps
Hey,
I have a Voodoo5 5500 running on a 750mhz Intel 128 ram
At first I thought that Crammond was kidding, when I turned up hightest resolution with full detail I had the most ugly graphics and very low fps . My processor was working overtime at 450% occupancy!!!
Then I went back into 3dfx tools and changed the card settings to SINGLE CHIP mode, and the game changed 360 degrees.
Now running full bore at highest res, in bad weather at monaco with full details turned on, I get a max processor occupancy of only 110% with well above 25fps!!!! After the start it drops back to 90% occupancy.
Give that ago and see what happens. Also make sure you have the latest drivers for the game. (but then havin read your second post I guess you already have ;)

Cheers m8, that worked a treat!
I can now crash at 25fps!
heh :)
Glad that worked. :)
Yeah, apparently, the game thinks there's some weird SLI stuff going on, so you have to disable the second VSA chip. Damn shame once you've invested in that tasty Voodoo5 though.

Well hopefully Hasbro will releasce a patch inthe comming weeks which will solve this and the other issues about at them moment.
There does seem to be a trend these days of not testing games thoroughly before releace, and releasing patches soon after releace.
Maybe with the infinite number of PC specs these days this is how it has to be. Unless you are of the slightly cynical kind, ad say its probably cheaper to program a patch than to keep paying playtesters ;) It also means the game is out sooner = revenue for the company sooner </cyninicism>
altho same couldnt be said for GP2 - i aint sure but it think it was 1 of the few games at the time that never had an offical patch to correct bugs etc? could be wrong tho,but i spose now its using D3D there`s more probs that can be created:(

I think they may have to release some sort of patch for gp3, because the masses aren't too happy. I don't mind the bugs personally, you don't really noticed any of it while driving, it's just the TV views.
GP2 never had an official patch though, just ten million unofficial ones :)
