has any1 seen megazone 23?

I'm pretty new to anime and only seen a couple of anime films b4 this - sf2, macross plus, goodbye lady liberty, castle of cagliostro and neon genesis evangelion but that was the best film I've seen so far - great plot w/ twists, characters, fx (for its time). what does ny1 else think?

Wanted to see this one after I saw it's sequel, but I haven't found it yet. The sequels set centurys after the Megazone landed back on earth and a large city has built up around it. Thought it was pretty good, but how's it compare with the orignal?

Megazone 23.... this was the one that was a trilogy in Japan but only the last part made it over... and the guy's really good at some videogame and there's a pop star who everyone thinks it's virtual but is actually real and the guy ends up fighting in a suit.... Am I right? It's been SO LONG since i've regularly watched anime :cry: and I've forgotten what I have seen (saying that for some reason Devil Man just popped into my mind - great flicks)

As I remember, I thought it was OK, but the mech fights and story were a bit lame...
