Well after being forced to Asda I tottled around and sstumbled across some tellies. BIG tellies :)
Anyhow, they were at what seems a good price but the brand was not exactly known, can't remember it tbh, and the screens weren't exactly flat.
Sooooooo, widescreen or big square telly and should i get a proper flat jobby?
/me starts saving :)
For DVD, definately a wide screen, preferably a 32" Sony Wega (well that'd be my choice). Unfortunately I could only stretch to a 28" at the time.
As the majority of DVDs are in the widescreen format, and if anamorphic all the better, for home cinema they're only beaten by the plasmas.
I reckon you get what you pay for with TVs it terms of tube quality, but if the picture works for you, and you've not got money to burn then go for the cheaper bulbous one.

I've been looking at the Panasonic Tau range of widescreen TV's and creaming myself.
The 36" Pure Flat screen is ****ing lovely. Sadly, realism tells me I can only afford the 32". :bigcry:
The thing with big tellies tho, widescreen in more so, is that prices have'nt really dropped over the last year or so for big brand names. I bought a JVC 32" widescreen set 13 months ago for £900 and the same set last week was still over £800 so prices are holding firm at the mo.
Goos news tho is that stores like Asda's and Tecso's buy in some less well known tv's and dvd players but can offer them at a low price for some pretty good gear.
As long as it has at least 2 scart sockets (1 needing to be RGB compatible) and/or a s-vhs socket them you're laughing.
Also as mentioned below go for a widescreen set over a 4:3 model as widescreen is the future with the advent of DVD and digital tv.

I bought myself a Philips Widescreen TV to go with my DVD player. It cost me £450.
