right then here goes...
last year i used to be able to connect to wp direct at 49333-which was nice!
butover the past 6 months ive had a big prob-my con has gone down to 24000 at the lowest to 36999 at the highest, but this higher speed is terrible as it takes forever to read anything online. Now ive read the lagless tips and done all that-no luck. Ive also contacted bt and they increased the gain on the line which made it worse unbelievably!. They told me it was not their prob as they could only guarantee voice comms over the phone not internet connection. i even went to off-tel and moaned at em but they told me nothing was wrong with my line so that was that according to bt.
Ive messed with the settings on me modem-even tried the internal one that came with the pc but its pants.Now for the techie bit...

so..$64 question is ..any ideas-apart from isdn cos i cant afford that and i cant afford asdl either.
this is getting on me nerves now so any help would be appreciated.

I am no expert but it might be a dacs box or whatever they are called there, is a section on it at http://www.lagless.com if u have had the same setup and the connection has dropped like that it might be a dacs box, ask in your street if anyone near u has had an extra line put in.

If your setup is the same, and nothing wrong with line.. then maybe ur modem has died.. U tried it on a friends machine or anything?.. Or borrow a modem and try that on yours..

But dont trust bt when they say line is ok... i got loads of noise on my line, but bt claim its clean.
I can hear this on the phone and on modem speaker, yet bt say its ok... so who knows...

so its probably either what the last person said, or modem died, or bt are stupid... id go for number 3 myself :)

Yeah - try and get a m8's modem into your computer and see if your modem hasn't died, if so - and you are getting a good ping/connection with another modem then give me a shout.
If you can't get a modem off anyone to test your phone line - I'll happily send you an old internal one (Rockwell chipset) for you to play with. If everything goes smoothly i'll even send you my boxed - Supra Express 56ke to your house for FREE :E
