Hi all, a little while ago I blew out my old modem and purchased a new Diamond Supra Pro 56k internal, as I heard the Supra's were a good modem. However, it turned out to be a danged software modem! In Device Manager it goes under a section called HCFMODEM....
That said tho, I don't get too bad performance on it. I connect at 42,667 bps (never any higher) and the lowest ping i get is 167 tho according to my statistics I average about 300 ping.

What I'm basically getting at is if I buy an external (and thus non-software) Supra how much will my performance increase? Will I get 50,000bps connection speeds? Will my ping go down a bit or at least be more stable?
In other words, is it worth me buying one?

Thanks in advance...

I wouldnt settle for a ping of 167 on bt3 on my supra m8
i get about 135+ on bt3
and about 120+ on wireplay direct.

Plus ive got a crap phoneline so i only connect at 38,667 bps to most isps :(

But i would almost gaurentee a much better/noticable performance on a non software version.
A ping of over 250 seems unplayble to me.
They only cos about 50 quid i think, i reckon it would be worth your while.

If any action is happening the modem is minimum 250, heavy action 350. Bad days up to 600...
