View Full Version : Perfect Blue - and Anime on DVD in general really...
Was in town with jock, babyharpseal, tick, 8ace et al and I picked up Perfect Blue on DVD. No idea what it's about just seen it's name bandied about - so come on people what have I let myself in for? :E
Also while browsing in HMV I was once again slightly miffed that they don't have an Anime on DVD section - I have to search through all the others to see what they've got! This su><0r5 so what is there on DVD anime-wise that is worth getting in the UK?

There is, sadly, a dissapointing lack of Anime on DVD in this country at the moment.
I think Ninja Scroll is on the horizon but, apart from that, I've no idea.
Only good news is, if you've got a multi-region player, there's a good selection of R1 titles out there you can get on import (which also aren't butchered by the BBFC).
:smokin:
>there's a good selection of R1 titles out there
I've got the Wharfedale player so spill on what these titles are!

I really enjoyed Perfect Blue when I watched it last week.
Its the first anime movie I have bought since the release of Ghost in the Shell, which is still my favorite. I managed to pick up the actual ghost manga, and I couldnt beleive how much of the story, and other details were left out of the anime.
still, its damn good.

Shirow's supposedly been working on the Manga follow-up to Ghost. Unfortunately, I've no idea what stage he's at yet.

Did someone mention Ghost in the Shell ..... heh heh :)
I think the details in the GitS manga where left out of the anime deliberately to cut down on the films size and make it easier to watch .... I still cringe when I try to read the last twenty or so pages of the manga :D. All that EN, karmic connection crap ........ ugh :(
The follow up is called Ghost in the Shell: Man Machine Interface and WAS almost finished in Japan until Shirow decided to rework it. So it'll be a while until we see it over here. To keep up to date with it check out:
