View Full Version : NT Server - standards are low...
Having spent a bit of time on the NT server, I see that gameplay standards are low - runway hugging like I've never seen, people disconnecting when they get into a bad position etc. etc.
I imagine a lot of this is down to an influx of non-Wireplayers in there. Don't know what point I'm trying to make, apart from maybe count our blessings that things are as good as they are on the regular servers.

I`ve noticed nothing new, people hugging runway has been happening a lot since about 10months in main arena (and before that I didn`t notice cause I never lasted long enough in the air).
I don`t mind so much if someone is damaged and run for cover but a lot of people dive as soon as they missed on first pass and thats just annoying, I think FFA would be better without AA guns on.

Try the winter map, no AA.
I've found I get disconected quite a bit from FFA, but not from teams. And personally, my stick is dying, so I have to keep leaving the game, which resets it. The curse of Saitek strikes back.

yeah i think bt3 maybe to blame for some of the disconnecting when you get into a bad position as the arenas have been very laggy i've seen people get in to positions they most definately wouldn't normally. Although with my experiences with bt3 disconnections i get disconnected just as i'm about to kill not be :(
Stop pimping German AA Len - it was the bloody Germans in the NT Server that were the worst culprits.

i play in both servers and what ive seen the standard is pretty much the same.
and yeah dd you make some valid points there. is this "running from a fight" an in thing craze or something? and escing? i mean "wtf" some even dont want you to kill them so bad that they run and commit suicide by firing under aa cover.
just not fair cheddar i say
the runway hugging is more to do with the numbers that play i reacon.
It reminds me of when i first started, both in rookie and the main arena, when there were 12 or below numbers, people tended to runway hug.
One person runs for the runway, they have 2 ppl following them, ppl spawn and dont have a great choice as to who to go for, so they go by the runway where 4-5 ppl have gathered now........
just a theroy :)

Oy WPS... dont slag game channel players off... in my experience they're the nicest, most decent bunch of AA players around.
<Shhh>
I like them and respect their sportsmanship.
<i said shhh>
You can also access their servers without lag, and from any ISP
<OK hans, now i've got that off my chest, i can take the bratwurst and the kolsch off you... and what exactly is the girl in the flying helmet doing in this magazine?
ahh... schnapps, ja bitte
hmmm... thats not possible with a torpedo is it?>

*****Disclaimer******
Before i get accused of corrupting the NB Again the girl in the flying helmet is a pilot appearing in LUFT review showing the new submarine to air torpedo
If you lot thought something else, then shame on you
Bratwurst is for eating, Kolsch is a fine german beer for drinking

However, no specific location has been specified for the torpedo, so it has been placed into damp storage for the time being.
{PCH kicks himself and thinks... better stop now before i get chased by a smelly old trout; nahh... it's ok my wifes asleep LOL}

iam always being runwayed in NT
that will teach me to sit and talk to ppl :E
Why not have the Code of Conduct displayed whenever someone
joins the test server?. with a tick box to say they have read it , before they can proceed.?
Ok..you cant force people to read something, but at least people wont have the excuse 'but I didnt know there WAS a coc!'.
Just an idea..

i think the numbers things the main culprit wih runway hugging.
you always spawn near the action (or should do, i've had some mad spawns in the past over 8 squares from the action)
so when there are only a few and a damaged plane runs for the runway with say two others following, it drags the spawns that way and before long people are spawning near the runway and other pilots are effectively pinned so the action stays runway hugging.

aren't most ppl playing on the NT server regulars ?? Otherwise how do they know about it ?
I've seen alot of escapees... a few of them regulars... don't understand escapees... if you can't get a decent ratio without cheating.. then whats it worth ?

Just wanna say that gamechannel AA can suffer from lag just as bad as GB AA, so dont think that going over there cures lag totaly cos it doesnt, and thats with either modem or isdn. :)

About all this runwaying and hugging and moan moan moan stuff. dont you just get fed up reading it. ?
I dont know how ofetn its been said ( loads ) but i know i have said it a few times. Why on earth dont you fly in the club arena ? by doing this you avoid all the no hopers or newbies that play in the main FFA arena and should have the type of game you want. :P But noooo there is never anyone in that arena ...... that arena is always emtpy. Welll DOH!!!! no wonder. if you wont fly in then of course its going to be emtpy. you need to fly in the damn thing for others to see you then they will fly in it as well. But no this seems to be to hard for some of you to work out.
I know that I check if anyone is there when I remember to. but I havent seen anyone in it yet. So why even have it if your not going to use it. and why even moan about the above if your not willing to do somthing about it. :P
Rant over can i go home now.!
I've been in the NT arena quite a bit. I found it a bit easier to learn the ropes there because it is less crowded and as a newbie you got a bit more time to figure out what was going on before you died, therefore getting the opportunity to learn a bit quicker than in Wireplay FFA where the standard is higher, the arena is more crowded, and the action is faster.
But you are all right to say that "standards" are low in NT. However, "standards" are low in WP FFA too, but because of the prevalence of good players and crowded airspace, the people with low standards just don't get as much chance show it, they just get killed too quickly!
I was in WP FFA for a bit last night, and half my deaths were from rk's. I managed to avoid whinging, but the worst offender (WCo WALT 1) did a hat-trick of them on me (So I targeted him, with a modest degree of success I am pleased to say - pls tell me if I was out of order doing this).
Naw m8, ya not out of order at all. I always target runwayers, until Ive killed them the same number of times they've runwayed me. Thing is..most runwayers arent very good flyers for some strange reason..(just take a look at the scores when you leave a game of AA, and you'll see that the runwayers are nearly always at the bottom, I suspect this is because their antics annoy people and they get targetted, as well as being useless flyers!), so they are
easy to kill in a balanced fight.

Just spent an hour or so in there tonight, under various alias's (alii??) its absolutely terrible!, ramming all the time, bad sportsmanship, particularly shooting at AA to deny people kills... two particularly bad arseholes started to wind me up, so i changed alias and targetted them for a bit.. but it reminded why i decided to quit this damn game...
