System Shock 2 has to be THE scariest, most atmospheric game in existense... normally think of myself as a bit of a hard man, I am literally scared to play it alone...

This is me during play:

'Er.... Hm... Aaaaah! Get away from me you sonofab*tch! Ah ooh er... It's all quiet now...

<I raid the body>... Got that... AND that... Oh that'll come in handy... <a door opens>... Oh crap! Die die die die die die die die die die die! <I run towards the alien shooting wildly>

NO! Not a sentry guuun! NO! <Dashing behind a pillar, I ready my armour piercing bullets, panting...>

"Beep beep beep beep" Oh no a camera! "Security alert... Possible threat detected" Die! Oh no it's got me on tape... here they COME! <I am killed horribly by the unstoppable horde of aliens> Oooh, now that was a bit scary, I think I'll go and lie down...'

No other game in the history of the world makes me actually TALK TO MYSELF for reassurance... It's the most incredible gaming experience I've EVER had... It haunts me even now, when I'm not playing it...

But yes, I'm playing the demo and finding it V. unnerving. Although I can't say I haven't played games like it before... there are other pant-browning games too...

Can't remember them, I'm still in shock (sorry, no pun PLZ!), perhaps I'll go try the Prince Of Persia 3D demo and relax...

ss2 is a great game, one the most atmospheric game ive ever played with the game setting and the story line blending in perfectly. Id say that the alien vs predator, marine game creates much more of an atmosphere and easily more scary.

Hmmmm now that I don't agree with...

AVP, for me was just a glorified shoot-em-up and was good for it, but I never found it scary, even in the marine levels...

You obviously love it to bits, but SO DO I!

Weeeeell, look at it this way:

How much interaction with scenery/characters is there? practically none.... is there a plot to speak of? nope... Did the designers p*ss me off because they programmed the sodding thing to only work properly with the SB Live? Yes...

But that's not why I don't like it... The thing is, I do, it's bloody fecking great, but admit it, all you do is find a key 1 2 3 open door 1 2 3 kill enemy 1 2 3 kill anther one 1 2 3... It's monstro fun, but come on, it's not exactly deep and diverse, is it?

Ahh but Avp has such a gr8 story from 6 films and soo many comics and graphic novels and it has something no other game can ever have! Aliens! They are the ultimate enemy! But no matter I'm getting SS2 on friday! WOOHOO! Hmm but I wonder what the best carreer is?

Marine, too much action (the combat in SS2 isn't as good as that in most FPS, but it's not the point of the game), Psi, too much poncing about, but navy, the best of both and you get to hack security systems, which is something we've ALL wanted to do, let's face it
