I've taken out my old 56 k winmodem because I thought it was interfeering with my Graphics card (long shot I know) see post http://forums2.gameplay.com/showthread.php?threadid=163756 if your good with modems and miscellaneaous.
Right, so I took me cra*py modem out and removed it in device manager . But when I booted up next my pc detected the modem again :bigcry:
Ok, I though I should remove it using add/remove programs as well!
So I did and when I reeboot now, the pc detects a pci communications device. It wasn't even pci, it just blocked a slot!! :furious:
So my pc wanted to install drivers for this, I refused to let it and now an unknown pci communication device sits in device manager under other devices!

Ne help greatly appreciated as always

Cheers

If you need more info...........U might have modem use IRQ in bios, but if its not there it shouldn't detect any. Did u remove the device in safe mode or normal. As safe mode displays more devices(device history), u may find that in safe mode its still there....

How did you know it was a HSP modem.
Hitting it with a hammer is not gonna get it off me computer though. It will just make a mess! :)

have you actually taken the thing out of it's slot? I cant see how a computer could detect a device that is not plugged into it!

It's sitting, staring at me blankly at my side as we speak now!
