Microsoft Sidewinder Game Pad (Ugh)....

I calibrated it, and yes it works fine what with the left and right steering, but i dont want up and down to be brake and accelerate for racing.
Is there any way i can get buttons A and B for the accelerate and brake, as they are greyed out in the GP3 control menus.....

I think what you need to do m8 is use your profile editor to set your buttons to the GP3 keyboard defaults of the controls you want.
That should do it.

yep i made a profile for my ms sidewinder pad

i now have

x = accelerate
a = brake
b = request pitstop\cancel stop
start = pause\unpause
y = replay
c = tv cam
z = cockpit cam

works great,just set ur in game keys and program pad profiler to correct keys.
