I have fitted a new PIII 850 CPU to a Abit 6EII motherboard running 256MB Memory and a RAGE MAXX 64MB Graphics card.
Now all was fine till SUNDAY when you all would have seen Highlander comeing in shooting at you then dissapering, well first I apolgise for this and this is the PROBLEM.
Now I get to connect and after some 1 or 2 mins get booted back to the SUBMIT SCREEN of the client.
I have reloaded the game frome the new clients.
I have put on the latest BIOS for the Motherboards and also the Graphics Card.
The only way that I can make it work is to turn the GRAPHIS down in the game and all is well but looks S***E as you will understand.
Now before you all start shouting "GREAT HE IS NOT ON ANY MORE" this is driveing me nuts.
All I wanted was a new CPU PIII 850 whats wrong with that, in the end I have reloaded the OS and the Client for the game and all software that I would need to play it IE soundcard and joystick video drivers but still NO luck.
Any help would be greatfull.

apology accepted :)
Hi Cobra. I had a similar problem some months back and updated the Graphics Card drivers to the latest version, problems went away. I think you suggest you've already done this, in which case, I'm of no further help.
Sorry mate, wish I could help more, but someone will come along shortly with a fix for you, helful people in here as you know.

like the man rocky said, you positive they are the latest drivers? as i'm sure anyone will tell you, is so easy to be using the wrong drivers due to poorly labelled downloads etc, been there, done that :-/
good luck all the same :)

Try dimming the lights, stripping naked and sacrificing a chicken whilst dancing the twist. Always works for me :E
Excellent - FFA will ba a safer place for us all - keep Highlander out as long as possible I say!
:E
(btw I had a similar problem on and off with the old NT server - I'd get booted after 1 or 2 mins for no apparent reason. I never figured out what was going wrong).

Hehe....I was rounds Cobras last night watching him trying to fix this problem and trying my best to be helpful and supportive (ie I kept telling him I should have the P3 850 and the graphics card and the problems would disappear)
God knows what was wrong though. The only time it was stable was running with no textures or smoke or haze and running at 320x240. Looked great in technicolour :)
We updated the modem drivers, the graphics drivers, uninstalled AA and downloaded it from the website and reinstalled letting it update itself.
He has neglected to mention that the motherboard only supports up to 800mhz in the BIOS although it is picking it up as a 850mhz in the BIOS startup. Not sure whether having the clock multiplier wrong in the BIOS would maybe cause the graphics card to mess about. (clock multiplier is set to 8.0 instead of 8.5)
I'd suggest putting an old graphics card in to test that and if that doesnt work put the old P3 500 back in (and give me the 850 of course :E )

Drivers, or temperature? Do like the Rockmeister says first and if the dont work, investigate some more efficient cooling of cpu and card.

Good morning all, well I know your all waiting with baited breath, to know if what was said worked.
Well the BIOS was added and then at 9.00 I tried again and YES it CRASHED OUT AGAIN.
I set it to all sorts last night but nothing seemed to work, and before any one says "You were in killing me " last night , YES I was and only after replacing the PIII 500 and reseting the BIOS to that you, then and only then all was working as should be.
I am at a loss the Pepole that make the BOARD or INTEL or even Microsoft have not a CLUE so im stuffed and have to stay with the 500 till I suss it.
Again thanks all for the INPUT and for not hitting this THREAD too hard with CRAP.
