I appologise on behalf of Derby, for our 2nds goal in the 3-3 draw with you tonight. We were well out of order, and clearly the club is not going to take responsibility for it.

Paul Ince was quite right to be angry. It takes the shine off coming from 3 goals down.

Sorry!

Dissapointed Derby fan

Yeah I'm a boro fan, and it wasn't anyones fault except the Derby players, so really there's no need to apoligise, as even Jim Smith had nothing to do with it, so we can't blame him either :)

But as for Boro giving away a 3 goal lead I cannot have any excuse for. Boro needs to learn how to kill a game, not give it away.

Hmmm sounds familiar.... <thinks backs to several Shire matches>

Yup, we suck like that too :E

ok i didnt see the incident but i was told that a boro player was injured and a boro player kicked the ball off, but the derby players didnt throw it back to boro and then scored.

thats what i was told and ive gotta say i have no problem with that.
im an Arsenal supporter and as you probably know we had the same thing against sheff utd a couple of years ago.

as i see it if a player for lets say boro goes down injured and an opposition player(lets say derby) kick the ball out so he can get treatment then i think that when boro take the throw they should sportingly give it back to derby.

but as happens so many times, a boro player injured and then a boro player kicks ball out to get treatment.
but then i think that the derby player SHOULDNT give the ball back to boro.

my reason is that some teams who are say 1-0up or holding on for a desperate draw tend to have players going down on purpose knowing full well that when his teammate kicks it out they get the ball back in a favourable position and have wasted some time, and the sportsmanship get abused.

ps i used boro and derby as an example only, im not saying they're cheats

It isn't actually cheating, there is no set rule regarding handing the ball back to the opposition. It's only sportsmanship.

I only seen the incident today when I was sitting down to watch a great Derby - Charlton game.

As far as I see it, the Boro player got up before Ince booted the ball out.

However, that's not the point. It doesn't reflect the footy club in a good light if they show unsportsman-like behaviour like that.

Seamus :afro:

FYI: Derby scored from the resulting corner from what I seen, not direct from the throw-in. (Which is no excuse!!)

Who's trying to make excuses? Not me, I started this thread, remember?

I didn't direct that at anyone in particular, I was merely pointing out that it was no excuse that Derby scored from a corner and not from the initial throw-in.

Anyway, for all those who watched last nights post-discussion of the Spurs-West Ham match:

How many people agreed with Andy Gray's solution to that problem?

For those who never heard this, Andy suggested that the referee should make the decision to stop play and allow the player to get treatment. Then that way the game restarts with a drop ball that both teams can contest for instead of one player from the opposing team putting the ball out of play for the opposing player to get treated and allowing them to start with the ball.

that sounds ok but maybe give the ball back to the team who last had it. or if it was close then give drop ball.

my point was backed up by the bristol rovers game the other day.
1-0 up with 2mins to go the bristol rov keeper threw it out to get a teammate help. now whos to say they werent wasting time?

Typical of Brian Robson still thinks he should be afforded all the hospitality from referees he was given whilst a player at MU.Anyone he remembers him playing wont (unless you support MU) remember his sporting qualities.Boro wish they were MU just look at the stadium and the kit and the manager.S**** team, s**** fans

As I remember Derby did not score after Ince had booted the ball into touch. No! They got a corner! Now surely Boro could have defended the corner better? It doesn't matter how the corner cropped up - it could have been any point in the game! Anyway, Stamp was acting up his "injury" and Ince was trying to timewaste (isn't that a bookable offence?)
