Id like to know everybodys opinions on Amazing Spiderman, Uncanny X-men etc, basically the american marvel comics. are they worth buying.

If you can get a whole run of a title on the cheap or a few cheap collected tradepaperbacks then yea. Marvel titles go up and down like a yoyo, in quality. The trouble with alot of their titles, do you want to buy x amount different comic titles to follow one storyline? :(

You should try one of the Marvel Master works graphic novels.They collect the first few issues of some the classic's like Daredevil or Fantastic Four.Go for Daredevil.Read in wizard(comic magazine)last month that DD had now overtaken spidey in popularity.

The DC and Marvel Hardback reprints like the Marvel Masterwork ones are great if you want to collect a particular classic title. Marvel has tended to do alot of collections as trade paperbacks highlighting charactors, storylines or runs though which would be a better buy for more modern stories.

Frank Millers run on Daredevil is still one of the best storylines and Daredevil Year 1 is a good miniseries.

The Marvel Knights inprint featuring such charactors as Daredevil and Punisher, has seen some good stuff come out.
