Okay, I've finished leaping about with joy.

The series 1 set is due out in the UK in November with a retail price of £40-45 (which isn't bad). Apparently there's a commentary on the first episode as well as a few interviews as extras.

However, the R1 box set has been announced for January and it's stated that when they reach the episodes filmed in HD expect full anamorphic widescreen versions.

How cool is that?

I know what you mean. I bought the series 1 set about the the time I got my DVD player. I've been severely tempted to get the new ones as they've come out to but, I figure, VHS is a ****e medium. May as well save my pennies and buy them in a decent format.

I just hope over cool series follow suit...

Just to ask, how come you cant get this on R1 DVD right now?. I just searched Amazon.com and found nothing. R2 DVD's never come out before thier R1 counterparts. Weird huh?

You cant even get the complete VHS box sets in the US. Something they envy us of immensely.

Just take it as our good fortune. We finally get one up on the yanks :)

Apparently the R2 version is out before R1 because there already exists a R4 Pal set in Europe. So it's a fairly straight port.

If the next question is, 'why Europe before the States?', I've no idea.
