Lo fellas,

About to buy my 1st new pc in 2 and a half years and thank feck. One question though, i am going for an athlon, not really sure about whether I'll go for a tbird or the cheap but spead alternative Duron (wasnt taht the baddies name in superman 4 ?) Anyways i cant afford a Radaem (something like that) card so was going to make do with a Geforce thingy. I've read about various conflicts and poor FPS when using some Video cards with athlon chips. Anyone point me in the right direction, thanks.

Also I'm still running Win95b :) on my current machine, never saw the need to get Win98. But am comtemplating getting ME for the new pc. Anyone have any experience with it and is it worthwhile me getting it atm. (Btw sorry this isnt hardware, but i think velvets ignoring me re a software fourm, probs think it will be full or warez and competitor talk i guess)

Thanks in advance for any help.

Don't worry about incompatibilities with the Athlon and GeForce cards, they are sorted now.

Hope you're taking the advice given by the others on your previous post, and go for the Abit KT7 motherboard.

If you're still running Win95, then I'd recommend that you get either Win98SE or ME. ME is very stable, but maybe not quite as fast as 98. Howver, I think the stability makes up for it.

I've got 2 Athlon systems with the following and their 3DMark 2000 scores @ default settings:

Abit KA7 + Tbird 700 + C/Labs GeForce DDR = 5096

Abit KA7-100 + 900 + Leadtek GeForce 2 GTS = 6942

Both setups get over 100FPS in Q3 @ 800x600 HQ
