CPU Fan

Alright all, I am currently building a AMD K6-2 3D system, I am a bit confused as when I put the fan on the processor, it is loose, I have bent the metal to make it pull tighter but still loose. On the bottom of the heatsink there is a rubber square, surely if it is a heatsink it should be metal on metal?????
So for any of you who know, is the rubber bit MEANT to be on there? and secondly how can I make it on the processor as tight as the other machines I have?????
It is a fan designed for the K62 btw!!!!!

well the square will be a thermal pad
that should be okay for that kicd of chip
i don't know about your clip problem though
try putting the clip on the other way round if it will fit

I have managed to get it on tight, was just a bit worried about the pad, but if it is meant to be on, then I will leave it! I have tried turning it on and installed windows, it didnt catch on fire so I suppose it must be OK :E
