NT4 wasn't really designed to play games much to the annoyance of a big chunck of the business community :E and if you've installed SP6a then it's already DirectX3 with Directplay 6, thats about as high as it goes unfortunately :(

Have a read of the faq on the far right of NT Comatible site (http://www.ntcompatible.com) for more info but they do post some fixes and workarounds if it's a particular game your having problems with.

noooo,

i installed sp 6, directX wouldnt install,
because its its nt server i guess, & not nt 4

i then tried looking for a version on sp6 specific to nt server, nothing.

then i tried all the different versions of directX i could find, none of which seemed to work

im fine with OpenGL & glide, but with no directsound i cannot play multiple streams of audio on the desktop, and avs on winamp makes my poota go like a 286 on a bad day :(
