God damn it!

I got turned away from the petrol station today in bournemouth, cause they didn't have enough to fill up my car, they said emergency vehicles only!

I mean FFS i need to get to work and back, and that means fuel!

However i did blag myself some fuel in the BP garage after flashing my service card, and telling the garage man if i didn't get any fuel and go to work, he may not have a garage to work at!

However i am concerned that when i use this lot up, proberly about saturday or so, i won't be able to get any more back!

Maybe i can try the fuel the ship uses... :)

Poor Roast :)

I have three quarters of tank - where I work we got until the end of week then we will run dry. Have you noticed that peeps are really not complaining at the moment - think about this one - VAT is added on to a tax in itself not the actual price of the product you are buying. Something has to be done.

The problem is the oil price outside of the country.

The government doesn't add anymore then France/Italy/Spain and the US on top of fuel prices, however the government pays 3 times as more for the fuel then the US one.

That is the problem.

Anyway i blame the french, they let the rioting get out of control, they also gave in, which gave people over here thinking well if the frogs can do it, why don't we.

The government will never budge. It can't afford to budge. If they cut back on fuel prices, that means less money will be spent on public services.

The only aviable option to do, is to lower the price of the oil that we buy in. I believe that course of action is being investigated.

Sorry but our tax on petrol I think is the highest in Europe and as for USA they hardly tax it at all :)

Every product goes up in price over time - inflation - but the tax on petrol plus VAT makes the price of petrol a joke. The conservatives brought in the price increase in petrol every year and the labour party carried on with it until last year I believe. I am in a position where if I want to catch a bus I have to walk a couple of miles and then the service is only one day a week to a place I do not really want to got to :hmph:

If the government wants to encourage the public to use public transport then they should have the infrastructure in place to start with :) It is probably ok if you live in city - or it may not be comments welcome on this one - but if you live in rural areas you got big problems with public transport eg it don't exist

Cycle

I agree the Yanks don't hardly tax at all, for the price of a gallon over here, they can fill up their petrol guzzling machines :(

However we may pay more in 'taxes' but i believe the Europeans pay more in 'hidden taxes' or 'stealth taxes' or 'damn right sneaky taxes' or 'which i had read the small print tax' etc.

Sneaky taxes at least gives french and germans a good pension :)

I could go on but will refrain.......but squirrel you gotta mention that french companies pay more tax and ni than their english counterparts and that is why some french companies are now registering in uk :) I could go on to.......no don't squirrel you will sound like a unionist  god forbid.......but you do.....stop now ;(

From yesterday's Daily Mail:

Pump Price Tax

UK: 80.5p 61.5p
France: 79p 55p
Belgium: 73p 45p
Italy: 70p 43p
Germany: 68.6p 46.6p

And from News 24 last night, we pay around $4.50 per US gallon, while the States pay just over a dollar per US gallon.

It may well be about 'stealth taxes', but who's fault is it these stealth taxes are so confusing? I can see how much income tax + ni contributions I make each month, but how much tax do I pay on my insurance, petrol, mortgage, furniture...

Squirrel totally agree with you on the whole rural/urban topic - see my post in another thread (can't remember which). Tis a total shambles.

Where I'm living now (Middlesex) I can cope without my car (it's not ideal , but I can cope), but for my friends and family in Cornwall no petrol means no transport which means no work, which means no money, end of story. hmph.

So, my boss left for Belgium yesterday, laughing at us, coz we'd all run out of petrol and he'd be okay.

And then the Belgians decided to block their roads at 3:30pm - just when boss man would have been driving through!

HaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHaHa!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyway, I've got 1/4 of a tank and everywhere's dried up 'round here. I'm buggered.

Glad I have/had a disel; (no steering pump, knackered on Friday night leaving me with no steering on the M4 at 100 mph...not nice) It gets returned today and has enough for about 300 miles in the tank.

We are supposed to be going to SIBS 2000 on Friday, but I doubt whether we will make it at this rate.

oh yeah...if the emergency vehicles have fuel...how do the crews get to work to be able to drive the emergency vehicles...Do they get fuel to?

Oh and If you live in and around the Northampton area, the Nuclear Attack Warning Sirens have just gone off..../me shags the secretary...I am definately going out with a bang/
