Virgin Net & WP

Anyone else using Virgin Net, because when I try to use it I get onto a UT server and after about 20 seconds to a minute I get dropped and can not get back on again.

I don't have this problem anywhere else or with any other ISP's but I would like to try and get Virgin Net working, any ideas whys this is happening.

BTW, I contacted Virgin Tech Supp and they haven't got a clue, it also only happens on the WP UT servers.

Are you "in the game" for the 20 secs, or is it whilst you are trying to connect that you are getting dropped ?

And which servers are you using?

Virgin is one of the ISPs that seems to have routing problems to Concert (we think it is actually hosted by NTL who have the same problem). This means that if you are connecting to one of the UT servers on the new feed (212.162.240.xx) then you are probably being affected by this. Most people can get to the game, but find they have higher than usual pings.

If you are connceting to one of the servers on the old feed (212.140.216.xx) then I will shut up :)

I can get into the game, but it depends on how many people are in there how long it takes for me to get dropped, if its pretty full, usually about 20 seconds and im out.

Also, this was happening on the old feed and now the same is happening on the new, so guess im screwed if use Virgin Net.

Hi,

As Custodian said, the routing and subsiquent pings are a problem. My home isp is also Virgin, and they are indeed using NTLs network now.

Basically if you are pinging upwards of 300 then then when the server is querying and not getting adequate responces then it may indeed kick you.....

All you can really do is complain to Virgin with all the other dudes as far as that goes......

Perhaps try another ISP.
