V90 modems

just recently formatted my mates pc.He has an Askey56k pnp modem.I have tried updatting it to V90 using flashcom.The modem accepts the flashcom flash upgrade and tghen loads v90 drivers.The problem then is that when he tries to dial out the modem is not detected.I have tried reinstalling the modem by removing it but all to no avail.Hes running win 98.Any ideas anyone pls

Check that windows hasn't put it on the same IRQ as anything else.

Also check the Dial up settings as it probably still thinks the old modem is there.

Just got to >Start >Programs >Accessories >Communications >Dial-up networking, right click on the appropriate icon and on the first page under general theres a box at the bottom entitled connect using, make sure this is the same as the modem installed.
