Okay, I spoke to your info desk and they said that the Digital TV service is available in my area - central London.

When I asked about the Cable Modem service they said that it will take about 6-9 months for the networks to be upgraded!!!!Is this true or are they just playing it safe?

And have you heard anything else about this............

right the deal is...NTL have gone very quiet over the cable modems.I spoke to the project manager and he said they are sorting out the full internet access via the digital tv set top box.The cable modems however are going on trial very soon in Manchester for the lucky so and so's that are triallists.I think NTL may be right about network upgrades in London because the network down there is garbage. They definitely want everyone to have full internet access either to your tv or pc via the digibox. If you look at some of the other posts you will get details of price and download speeds.BY the way the cable modem service NTL operate at the minute is separate from the digital service coming later

Cheers M8! You see the thing is if I go for ADSL then I am in a contract for 12 months (as ya know) and lets say the digi box cable modem gets released in 6 months then well you do the math..........

Could you find out when they plan to upgrade the network down here in London cause it seems you guys are only interested in sorting out the North and the South is less of a priority.

I really really do not want to support BT but if I am still on a feckin 56k in 2 months then I'll even go HH if ADSL isn't ready.

You can understand the frustration. Personally I think it boils down to a poor calibre of business sense cause surely while BT is fecking up the ADSL rollout it has given a sizable window for NTL to snatch their customers away from them. If Cable Modems arent released in the south before ADSL then surely with the 12 month contract they have lost a sh1t load of customers - no? I dunno maybe you should get youre project manager to read this forum b4 hitting the sack every night........ HEH HEH

Anyways thanx for ya help again...........

As far as I know the network in London is digital ready. The problem is upgrading the routers and servers. Now if they are anything like what we have in Manchester they wont have enough capacity.Up here there should be 1 router per area and we have 52 areas.Unfortunately we have 2 routers can you see the problem. This will be resolved as its causing major problems but the routers they use are 100k each and we need 50.I'd hold on b4 i went for ADSL as 1/ cm's are a lot faster 2/cm's are a lot cheaper and accordinging to a m8 that works for BT on ADSL it's SH***.Apparently it keeps falling over without good reason, hence the delay. As soon as I hear news I will pass it on.
