View Full Version : How do I find out who's scanning my PC?

Thanks to recommendations on these boards I've got my PC kitted out with the ZoneAlarm 2.1 firewall, and I'm extremely pleased with it.

However, I know that in the alert information it gives when it blocks a scan (3 netBIOS scans this morning already) is the originator's IP address. How do I find out who these scum are so that I can email their ISP? I've heard of traceroute and whois but have no idea how to use either, and haven't been able to find a clear guide on the net.

Can anyone offer any guidance or names of good programs to use?

Cheers all.

Try running tracert (go to start menu, run, and type the ip address in as well).
