Got my copy one Wednesday and all i can say is WOW! This is the best DVD released so far.
Where to start The packaging is novel coming in a smart metal case with an embossed T2 logo on the front is a nice little touch. Once you have actually opened the thing up you are presented with a 30page booklet on the making of the film and the contents of the disk. The disc itself a 2 sided( although i have read elsewhere that a 2 disc version was made to help with the huge demands)
Side A has everthing you could possibly want to know about the making of the movie and a feature on the 3D version at Universal Studios (T2 3D-Battle Across Time), Trailers, Screenplay, Storyboards and also DVD-ROM extras :) All access via great menu screens.
Side B has the actual film in 2 versions(well 3 actually but ill get to that in a sec) The original theatrical version and the special edition. All the usual gubbing are available, subtitles, Sound setup ( from doldy surround to THX) Audio commentary. Also available are biographys for most of the cast , director and producers etc. Also available if you have a DVD-ROM is a feature to watch the film while reading the script and looking at some of the 700! storyboards.
Then once you have managed to get through all this, there is a little hidden easter egg. A third version of the film featuring furthur cuts from the film not included in the special edition. I have also heard that there are a couple more including some more trailers. The whole thing has to be seen to be believed. Sound and picture quality are excellent and the whole thing makes you want to go out and buy a DTS decoder just to blow the roof off your house the first time the terminator hits your screen and crushes the human skull under foot :E
This is indeed THE Ultimate Edition and for me the ultimate DVD released so far.

TERMINATOR 2 : THE ULTIMATE EDITION 10/10

The future of DVD is here, things can only get better

Hi m8..To get the 3rd version of the film you need to select the special edition to go to the special edition sub menu. now highlight the play special edition but dont press play.....now use the numbers on your remote and enter 82997.

Your should now notice that both eyes on the terminator are glowing and the new extended special edition should appear..

When u enter the code depending on your player u might have to press 8 enter then 2 enter 9 enter and so on. or u might be able to just press 82997 like on my pioneer 717..

Hope this helps m8. If not let me know or go to http://www.digitalbits.com and go to the review section and it tells you in there..

Yep what you do is

1) Place the disk in movie side up
2) Select the Special Edition
3) When the menu changes to Play special edition etc, leave the thing over play special edition and type in 8,2,9,9,7. As you press each one it should unvail some writeing under the wierd roman type numerals(sp?) 8, reveals The etc until it says The Future Is Not Set from top to bottom. The third Special Extended Edition automatically starts :)

You have to type them fairly slowly, just press each one as each word appears

Good news is, due to the success of this T2 edition, the oringinal 'Terminator' movie will be getting a lovely makeover too.

Scheduled for 2001, this is what DV-Depot says:-

"features a new 5.1 soundtrack remix, anamorphic transfer, and Producer Van Ling, who also did TERMINATOR 2, of course, will be on board to produce this new special edition as well"

Should be good :)

The only difference between the dvd-9 and dvd-18 versions is the number of disks. The dvd-9 version has side 1 of the dvd-18 on disk 1 and side 2 on disk 2.

Got mine this week. I see now why Cameron ditched the Future Coda ending, it's awful. Looks like an outtake from Star Trek Next Generation :{
