I have been a user of a 56k connection for 3 years and ive had enough of download speeds of 3kb sec. So after nagging my father he will buy me anything thats fast and no more than £40 a month.

My problem is i live in South Wales (15 Miles away from Cardiff) and ive looked at the bt internet ADSL thingy, £40 a month, ok, BUT. Its not out where i live.

And there is no way i would pay £30 a month for ISDN, when people are getting ADSL for £40.

Can you please help me.... if u know of any service that does adsl or Isdn (less than £15 a month) can u please share your information with me.
My postcode is CF42 5NU and i really want a fast connection because im downloading at speed of around 2-3kb sec and i get pings of around 250-350 on CS/TFC. And i have a network connection sharing the internet and i was a fast connection so teh 2 pcs can surff the net tidy, with out waiting 5 mins for http://www.yahoo.com 's website to download :) .

Thanks
Dean

I feel for you my friend but it sounds as though you will have to wait till either cable or ADSL is in your area. Don't waste money on ISDN as its only good for one thing.. gaming and even then not always.

Try calling NTL/CW and BT to try and get some timescale as to when they will be getting round to fitting up your area.

Best of luck.

lo peeps,

ISDN is cheaper than £30 pm, do the maths and it works out as about £15pm over your normal phone costs. With HH you get your dedicated internet line and an extra phone line, this all makes it seem more worth yer bucks in my eyes :)

(I'm only saying that cos I've just got it and am just jealous of these cable/ADSL dudes ;P)

ISDN is very underrated. Pings are far more consistent than adsl and cable modems. If you don't wanna wait years for adsl or cable modems and then longer for them to improve the service, definately get isdn. My clan has isdn'ers, cable modemers and adsl users from the uk, germany and holland and the only ones who's get 40 pings all the time and never suffer from days of 400 pings cos of problems with their isp's networks/infrastructure, are the isdn'ers.
I can get both adsl and cable modems in about a month, but I won't be switching from isdn for a long while yet cos it's just not a good enough standard yet.
