Really annoyed that ITV aren't showing USA GP live.

Gotta stay up late now... work next day... tired... etc.

Is anyone else really... I mean *really*... looking forward to this new track?! Can't wait for the 3/4 mile dash round the banking on each lap.

Just found aou about this and thought I'd post it on this forum! Looks like you got there first.

Yeah. Bloody outrageous. What the hell do ITV think they're doing? If you're one of the few people in this country who has ITV2, you can watch it live, otherwise it's in "already heard the result on the news" format.

The sooner these w&nkers lose their rights to cover F1, the better. The adverts are longer now than they used to be. There's no Friday coverage at all.

When Eurosport had it, the coverage was brilliant.

The only good thing that ITV have done is introduce Martin Brundle as a commentator. Other than that, I have hated their coverage from day one and this has just nailed the coffin.

Tossers.

Lo

I think it would have meant a 7pm - 8pm start on a staurday night. It's all about viewing figures and I don't think ITV where prepared to show F1 at that time because it has something like half the viewing figures of what is normally on.

I agree with you lot, I love my F1, but ITV make my blood boil sometimes. How many times have they cut away to adverts at the wrong time, I've lost count. What about when they don't always get te post race interviews, man that is so annoying. Why on earth when the race has just finished do we have to sit and listen to jim and that other plonker giving us their so called expert analysis, I mean ffs we just watched the race through our own eyes, we don't need to be told what just happened.

ITV SUCKS!!

Like I said... anyone looking forward to the new track?! lol

I don't think the coverage is that bad actually. I seem to recall that the BBC never showed qualifying at all, so that's a bonus. And we never had any interviews either, they just cut back to Sue Barker in the Sunday Grandstand studio for some showjumping or indoor pancake tossing. Post-race analysis? Well, we have it for football and I don't mind it too much. Tony Jardine is a bit of an arse and never seems to come up with anything too revelationary, but I think that's mainly because he never gets fed decent questions... the only thing I don't like about the whole ITV thing is Jim Rosential (who don't half look like that dracula bloke on Sesame Street). What I can't stand is when there's a camera shot of him and Tony sitting behind their desks and he looks at the camera and starts talking, then halfway through the sentence he looks across at Tony and you suddenly realise that he's not talking to us he's asking Tony a question. It's really odd and it drives me potty.

I think we're remembering the BBC coverage through rose-tinted spectacles a bit here. No qualifying, no post race analysis, no build up, no grid walkabout/interview, no James Allen in the pits to tell us about strategy... Okay, so now we have adverts, but I've got quite used to them (gives me a chance to pop off to the loo or get some more crips/chocolate). With so little overtaking nowadays I don't think they miss too many good bits really. Friday coverage? Naaaaah, no one ever does anything anyway (just working out race tyres/fuel/setup, and the times don't count for anything), and everyone is at work anyway.

As for times, if the race kicks off at 2pm Sunday, it would be 7pm Sunday over here, so that's right through Coronation Street which would upset the entire population (and my girly). Although quite why they can do it for the Canadian GP but not this one escapes me...

Ho hum, just a case of not watching any news programmes from 7pm until race start. Althought the ITV announcer will probably balls it all up by introducing the coverage by saying 'And now full coverage of Schumachers victory earlier this evening' :)

Nooooooooo!!!!!! You've ruined it already!

Anyway. I never liked BBC's coverage, either. Like I mentioned earlier, Eurosport had the superior coverage. Friday and Saturday qualifying. Sunday warm up. The race (always including the interviews) and all this followed up by weekly magazines, sometimes an hour long. Ben Edwards and Jon Watson provided excellent commentary and the adverts were always kept to a minimum and were timed much better.

But at least when BBC had it, they didn't make purchase EXCLUSIVE rights which ITV have, therefore killing Eurosports coverage.

GRRRR @ITV they r always doing this and missing exciting bits during the adverts:mad:

Guess i'll have to watch it on RTL, though i cant speak german and noo murray walker (who in my opinion is ace) but least i'll get 2 c it live.Tsk Tsk ITV

Woo Hoo its on RTL! Excellent!
I have to agree with -reaper- Eurosport coverage was the best.
Also i find old Murry a bit annoying. You can't knock how IN to it he is but Brundle is always having to correct him.

Am looking forward to the new track though. I just hope the infield section doesn't resmble a go kart track. and if noone can overtake comming off the oval i'm never watching F1 again.

This race should be fantastic but "Mystic Monkey Meg" tells me there will be many crashes. Bridgestone are very concerned about tyre pressures with the top teams going for out and out speed on the fast straights therefore reducing pressures considerably. This will mean less grip on the in-field and a few dented F1 cars + a lack of overtaking.

Onto the coverage....
ITV can suck my balls over this. The race starts at 6:00pm here but they did not want to interfere with the "Couch Spuds" TV viewing. Why the hell does football get preferential treatment when F1 is the most watched sport in the world. Shows us how important Cilla and Co. really are!! lol.
I am really gutted because ITV have done a relatively good job on so far but it all turns on its head this weekend.
Never saw Eurosports coverage but ITV is better to watch than Beeb ever was in my opinion. :E

Nooooo Murray's ace.... he's passionate
and besides Brudle is soooo biast its unbelievable, but i guess it must have summit to do with the money he's making from managing coultard.

While im on the subject of presenters is it just me or does Louise Goodman annoy the h3ll out of u 2?

Lo

BTW I used to always watch my F1 coverage on Eurosport and flick over to BBC when they had an advertisement break. Believe me Eurosport's coverage totally blew away anything ITV have ever offered apart from the gridwalk. :)

Fact is ITV have exclusive rights to F1 and they do a bad job IMO, not helped by the likes of Louise Goodman, James Allen and those 2 nerds sitting in the studio.

In regards the race.....I can't really see anything other than the usual teams dominating. On saying that though the arrows may go quite well and with villeneuve at BAR maybe they will do quite well to.

Oh yeah!! I'm pretty sure ITV2 are showing the race live, which is OK if you have cable digital, but not if you have Sky digital.

I'm gonna find a local pub that shows it and watch it there!

And I'm also looking forward to the new track.

And I think Murray's ace. Fair enough he makes mistakes, but he can make a boring race exciting!

BBC did show the qualifying ffs...i have the whole of the '96 season taped with qual, races and highlights cos i was a bit of a d.hill nut back then. And i was v happy when i found out this morning bout live coverage cos i have ondigital and thus ITV2 :D I just h8 jim rosenthal with his "jag-oooooo-aaaars" as if he had some speecgh defect and the way he comes on after each race and says something like "well wasnt that gr8 but look here...football" GRRRRRR FFS
And BBC had a gr8 intro...gr8 music and stylish shots of past champs.. better than the commercialised tat we r forced to endure on ITV..we dont even see the press conferences live anymore ffs. And James Allen is a complete faggot. Has ne1 read his column in F1 racing?? Hes a complete FAGGOT!

Yeah... I always used to watch Eurosport, too. Their coverage was always equal to the Beeb's (but BBC did have Murray - in't he great?)...

As for ITV? Keep Murray Walker, Martin Brundle and Jonathan Palmer, and boot the rest of the damned fools they've got prattling on. Their coverage stinks, and with any luck the BBC's gonna get the contract back any time soon.

The ITV contract wa snegotiated ebhind closed doors with bernie and BBC didnt even know that negotiations were taking place until they found out the ITV contract was signed back in 1995....grrrrrr
