Surprise Surprise, BT seem to have cocked up my Openworld registration.

I was getting narked that people who seem to have registered after me seem to be getting invitation eMails.

I registered @8:30 am on the 27th of April which as far as I know was pretty soon after the website opened.

I also got the "BT Openworld have given your details away to hackers" message.

So I phoned up to try and find out when I would get an invitation, I explained that I had registered early and the guy on the phone agreed to take my order.

I arranged for an install on the 6th of October but the order wouldn't go through cos I have previously paid for BT Internet via Credit Card. Apparently if they have your details you must order via the web.

I explained that when I try to order on the web that it just tells me I need the invitation email, but he insisted that it was not necessary to wait for the invitation email.

So hung up and tried again - only to get the same message.

Bit peeved now cos I had seemed really close to getting an install date so I phoned back.

Eventually got a human and explained what had happened.
This time the guy talked me thru the registration on the web and suggested that I try entering my phone number without the last digit (dunno why)

Tried this and it kept telling me I would have to pay the full installation fee.

The Openworld Guy also tried at his end and eventually said that my pre-order seemed to have disappeared.

He told me that he would raise a complaint form and someone should phone me in the next couple of days and arrange an install date. We will see what happens.

Lessons,
1. Don't wait for the invitation email if you registered early.

2. Get phoning them

3. Hit the website and try to complete your order it might work.

4. Tough luck if you are a BT Internet customer it makes things more difficult.

5. Make sure they haven't lost your pre-registration double check whatever money they take off your credit card.

Cheers
Steven
