has anybody here thought od getting satelite internet??

i's supposedly 2mb/sec abd all u need is a anolog satelite dish (an old sky one) and a pci satalite card (around £200) then you can go to europe online ( http://www.europeonline.com ) and sign up. It's only 9.99 a month which is a lot cheaper than cable or ADSL so wouldn't htis be a better option?? Just seems it to me? :)

Apparently its not too bad for downloads but gaming forget it. Pings of 600+ I've heard.

The Toadster is correct.

If your not interseted in gaming then get it. It fast as fook, but you WILL NOT be able to play games. More Packet Loss than RHA on a bad bad bad bad day(trust me, thats ALLOT). :)

Due to the distance involved to and from a geostationary satelite your minimum ping would be 280, that is theoretical and would probably always be worse than that. Also I don't think you can 'upload' to a satelite so you still have to use a modem to send information. But the download speed is good.
