DVD Movies on PC

Hi when I watch DVD movies on my PC there are quite big borders, is this supposed to happen.

Ive got pioneer dvd drive, voodoo 3 2000 graphics card, and running win98.

Im using the win98 dvd player with Power DVD Drivers.

That is normal.
It's the formatting of the screen, IE Widescreen. You would get them too on a TV.

Normal videos are usually PAL(4:3) so they fill the screen, where as widescreen is in Anamorphic/letterbox style.
